Each Area Program is coordinated by an Area Director that is an employee of Special Olympics Hawaii.  Area Directors recruit, train and supervise a volunteer Area Management Team.  This team is the driving force behind all of the activities that happen at the area level.  This management team consists of the following volunteer positions:

  - Fundraising :  develops fundraising activities, writes grants, and develops
sponsorships to help the area program meet it’s annual budget
  - Medical :  coordinates medical forms that athletes must complete to train and
compete.  Also helps to set up medical staff at competitions

Local Delegations are the grass roots component to Special Olympics Hawaii.  This is where all of the training happens for our athletes.  There are over 50 active local delegations for Special Olympics throughout the State of Hawaii.  Head of Delegations are the people responsible for the organization and running of their own delegation/team.  They help to recruit the coaching staff that is so vital to running our program, work with the family members of our athletes, and deal with all the paperwork for registering an athlete for competitions.  Without these fantastic volunteers our program would not be able to exist.  For more information on specific types of delegations look at our Outreach Home Page .  To find out if there is a delegation in your town, go to our Contact Us  page and look up your Area Director.
