The 2007 Better Business Bureau Torch Award

Each year, the BBB Torch Awards program helps illuminate the importance of an ethical marketplace where buyers and sellers, and donors and charities can trust each other. BBB’s Torch Awards promote trust in the marketplace and recognize local businesses, public charities, and individuals for their outstanding commitment to fair, honest, and ethical marketplace practices.

In 2007 Special Olympics Hawaii received the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Business Ethics in the small not-for-profit (fewer than 100 employees) category. The Better Business Bureau of Hawaii gives these annual Torch Awards "to recognize businesses with extremely high ethical standards. The award highlights the importance of corporate conscience and the responsibility to uphold a fair and honest marketplace".

To be considered for a BBB Torch Award, a public charity must show how its policies and practices demonstrate accountability and the ways it serves its clients and donors, employees and volunteers, vendors, industry and communities.

We are very honored to be recognized by the Better Business Bureau for our efforts.

Special Olympics Hawaii Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame Award goes to those rare individuals who dedicate years of their lives to Special Olympics Hawaii. An inductee into the Special Olympics Hawaii Hall of Fame has made a lifelong commitment of unselfish contributions of their time, energy, and love. This award is only given to those distinguished individuals who stand far above the norm, and is not awarded every year.
